Brandon Regional Hospital Heart & Vascular Center is proud to demonstrate its commitment to quality by announcing that it has been recertified as an Accredited Chest Pain Center with Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) from the Society of Chest Pain Centers (SCPC), an international organization dedicated to eliminating heart disease as the number one cause of death worldwide.

“3 Star” Rating: The Highest Given by The Society for Thoracic Surgeons

The Heart & Vascular Center at Brandon Regional Hospital has received a “3 Star” rating from The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) for quality care in cardiac surgery. As one of over 1000 hospitals to participate in STS data collection, Brandon Regional Hospital is among the 12-15 percent of heart surgery programs nationally to receive the “3 Star” rating.  This is the highest quality tier!

The STS is a professional not-for-profit organization and maintains the largest clinical outcomes database for cardiothoracic patients in the United States with more than three million cardiothoracic procedures represented.  In order to achieve this high rating, the hospital had to exceed or come within range in four critical areas of evaluation; avoidance of mortality, avoidance of morbidity, use of the internal mammary artery and appropriate medication administration.

ICAEL Accreditation

Brandon Regional Hospital announces that its echocardiography lab has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in the area of Adult Transthoracic by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL).

Accreditation by the ICAEL means that Brandon Regional Hospital Echocardiography Lab has undergone a thorough review of its operational and technical components by a panel of experts. The ICAEL grants accreditation only to those facilities that are found to be providing quality patient care, in compliance with national standards through a comprehensive application process including detailed case study review.

ICAEL accreditation is a “seal of approval” that patients can rely on as an indication that the facility has been carefully critiqued on all aspects of its operations considered relevant by medical experts in the field of echocardiography. When scheduled for an echocardiography procedure, patients are encouraged to inquire as to the accreditation status of the facility where their examination will be performed and can learn more by visiting www.icael.org/icael/main/patients.htm.

Emergency Care

The Emergency Department provides 24 hour support for cardiac events. The main acute treatment area includes 23 treatment rooms. We also offer Fast Track and pediatric emergency services during peak hours.

Vascular Surgery

Diseases of the vascular system, or arteries and veins, are managed by medical therapy, minimally-invasive catheter procedures, and surgical reconstruction. Surgeons at Brandon Regional Hospital treat a variety of vascular conditions.
